Personally I love to give food as a gift – it is my go to! I give it as a housewarming gift, birthday present, Hostess Gift and of course Christmas present. The options are endless with food and making gift baskets, and if you know someone well you can really tailor the gift to them. Nothing makes me happier than discovering and sharing a new something that I know a friend will adore. I think it is great to share your favorite or local food items with a friend and let them experience something you love. I have included some of my favorite ones above, but there are so many more.
I think wine is always appreciated and you can go to Back Room Wines or Sherry Lehmann to find and/or send some amazing wines (or of course your local wine store). Fact – Murray’s Cheese is amazing! Living in NYC and near their Bleecker street store I know I am incredibly lucky, but anyone can enjoy their cheeses and other food items. They have an incredible variety of gifts, and I mean who wouldn’t love getting a beautiful selection of delicious cheeses?
I personally don’t think you can ever go wrong with ice cream – everyone loves it. I have a few favorite providers including Steve’s Ice Cream, Talenti Gelato, and Van Leeuwen Ice Cream. Graeters Ice Cream is my family’s favorite – I always send it as a gift to people I love. Their black raspberry chocolate chip and mocha chip are my two favorites flavors, but you really can not go wrong with any of their ice cream.
My family’s Christmas morning tradition includes Bendsten Bakery’s Kringle – so good and a great gift to send others.
Momofuku Milk Bar in New York has quirky, imaginative and very tasty desserts. I have included one above but check out the whole selection here which are all noteworthy.
Sorry for the very long post but this is kind of my wheelhouse (if you will) and I feel I have a LOT to share on the subject! Goldbelly is a fantastic resource for discovering new food favorites from around the country. Southern Season is a very cool store that recently opened in Charleston and they have gift baskets featuring products made in the south.
