Happy New Year!

I know it has been a while since my last post, but I took these past weeks to spend time with my family and enjoy Charleston. I am not really a New Year’s resolution person, or at least I never really stated any specific goals. I have never written them on a blog for everyone to read and ask if I am actually sticking with… I am sure most of you share my overarching goals – eat healthier, cook in more, run, do yoga, breath, repeat.

I love January because it’s an opportunity to hit the reset button a little. I don’t know about you, but I may have overindulged a little in December. I am really ready to get back on track and get into a routine. So far, January has taught me that you can make plans, but sometimes, things go awry. I was supposed to leave Charleston on Saturday to fly back to NYC – guess what? I am still in Charleston, two days later! Multiple cancelled flights due to weather, and there is nothing I can do about it. I can’t really complain because of all the places to be stuck, this is a pretty excellent one.

I wanted to kick my Monday off in the same vein as the New Year and went to a Charleston Power Yoga class this morning. Nothing like an hour and fifteen minute hot yoga class to reset your body and mind (and sweat out some toxins). I also started the day off with a good breakfast, as you can see above.

I do have some other goals I would like to accomplish in 2014 such as take a photography class, entertain more (more dinner parties!), really nail a handstand in yoga, more green juice, take a Photoshop class, go somewhere I have never been before and make a big effort to make plans with friends!

Bon Appetit magazine is showcasing a Food Lovers Cleanse for January with tons of great healthy recipes. The recipes look delicious and will definitely make my life easier. Instead of searching for a recipe I find healthy, I can simply scan through all their dinners and choose the ones that look best to me!
