Miami Weekend Getaway

Living in NYC, Miami makes for pretty much the perfect winter weekend getaway! An easy direct flight and a short cab ride and you are in 80-degree weather taking in South Beach. I have stayed at five hotels in the area, and my favorite spot is the Miami Edition Hotel which is the perfect mix of luxury, chic and fun. The great thing about the hotel scene in Miami is there is truly a hotel that will fit the scene and vibe you are looking for. I personally don’t need the loud pool party scene of say the Fontainebleau or SLS. Also, when I go to my bed at night I don’t want to be kept up by people raging – a sign I’m about to be thirty perhaps. This is the second time I have stayed at the EDITION and it will not be my last!

Ideal spot for a cocktail at the Edition – I love the decor of the terrace (splurge on the Pineapple cocktail)

As far as food goes, my number one dinner recommendation is Ola, which we of course visited on this trip. Lunch outside at the Matador Room, which is the Jean George restaurant at our hotel is a must with the sweet pea guacamole, grilled fish tacos, and a glass of rosé being a must order! For Stone Crabs, Joe’s is a no brainer, though be prepared to wait and I recommend getting there early (like an hour and a half before you want to eat). We also had a delicious meal at Hakkasan and Cecconi’s is always good for a fun time.

The Miami Beach Edition has great little sitting areas and places to escape. Also, at night they have a bowling alley and skating rink in their basement.
