Weekend in Review | Road Trip

Bella spent the month in Northeast Harbor Maine with her nephew Cooper and my parents. We were so grateful for my parents taking care of Bella for us and we knew their is no where she would be happier than hiking, swimming and playing with Cooper in Maine. We missed our dog like crazy when we were away and joked how much Bella would have loved swimming in the Mediterranean or eating all the cheese in France. The first weekend back, we planned to meet my parents in Portland for the night and pick up our girl.

Eventide Oyster Co is definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in Portland Maine or anywhere near Portland. For any oyster lover, this is a no brainer with their huge, amazing selection of oysters. I love this place. The cocktails are amazing and all the food we had was phenomenal. Honestly, their burger was one of the best I have had in a long time and same goes for all their rolls and buns (Lobster Roll and Fried Oyster Bun were insane). The fact that their are no photos of the food speaks to how good it was – we dove in and I totally forgot to capture the deliciousness in front of us!

The best part of waking up in Portland is breakfast at The Standard Baking Co, which has the best blueberry scone I have ever had in my life. They have a great pastries cookbook, The Standard Baking Co Pastries. I made their delicious Pumpkin Scones, which are perfect for Fall.

Portland is roughly five hours and thirty minutes from our apartment in NYC, so we decided to break up the drive a bit. On Friday afternoon, we left the city and headed north stopping in New Haven for the night. James went to college there and he was looking forward to showing me his old stomping ground. I had been to New Haven once before, for his five year college reunion, but was looking forward to taking it in in a more relaxed way. Obviously, we had to grab some pizza! I had previously been to Bar for pizza in New Haven and this time we tried Modern Apizza. (I’m sorry New Haven I prefer NYC pizza) We had a great night and woke up bright in early the next morning to drive up to Portland.
