Wine Tasting | Napa Valley

HALL Wines | St. Helena

I love New York, but I really love the Napa Valley. What isn’t there to love? The region is stunningly beautiful,  the towns are all unique and charming, the food was fantastic, and well the wine….Heaven. Here is an embarrassing tidbit: I have had a fantasy of living in Napa ever since the remake of the Parent Trap with Lindsey Lohan. True Story. We started our trip at Domaine Carneros on Thursday on our way out to Calistoga to sample a little sparkling wine, but Saturday was our all star wine tasting day. We went to the Oakville Grocery at 9:30am to get some coffee and breakfast and we were at Domaine Chandon at 10am to start our day of wine tasting!  What a fun way to spend your Saturday in a gorgeous part of the world, with family and soon to be family, outdoors tasting wine! I am already researching which wineries to visit on my next trip out before the wedding.

Domaine Chandon is a landmark winery and an excellent first stop in the Valley or in the morning! We did an amazing sparkling wine tasting and the grounds of the winery are stunning. You could easily pass the time walking around the property, sipping bubbly or indulging in some of their delicious looking food.

Ma(i)sonry was my favorite wine tasting venue and experience on our trip. They showcase a rotating collection of amazing wines from many different Wineries and Vintners. When you sit down an incredibly helpful and knowledgable server is assigned to each group to make sure that everyone gets the most of their experience. A curated selection of wines will be selected for each person depending on styles of wine they enjoy. The courtyard is a true oasis, and I could have happily spent the entire day tucked into a corner sipping wine and checking out all the sculptures.

I am a huge Pinot Noir lover and the WALT Pinots where fantastic! We enjoyed three of their Pinots the WALT 2012 Blue Jay from Anderson Valley, 2012 La Brisa from Sonoma Country and my favorite the 2012  Gap’s Crown Vineyard from Sonoma Coast. I highly recommend a visit to this winery not only for the delicious wines but also for their tasting room and the stunning views it provides.

We had such a lovely day tasting wine and I could easily get use to this lifestyle! I know I will definitely go back to Ma(i)sonry, because there are so many more wines I can’t wait to taste. I ordered almost all the wines I tried at their gorgeous spot, and I joined their wine club! I have heard great things about August Briggs, Honig, Elyse and Schweiger, Frog’s Leap and hope to check them out when I am back in February. The French Laundry also has a list of things to do in Napa and Wineries to visit. Does anyone have any suggestions or favorite Wineries I need to visit?
